"I'm a full time flight instructor and aviation author and I demand a lot from my headset. Each year, I fly about ten times the number of hours of a typical GA pilot, which means my headset takes a beating. On top of that, I do lots of ferry flights helping people take their new glass cockpit airplanes home from the factory. So my headset often gets stuffed into the backpack that I carry on commercial flights home.
I've had a love affair with Lightspeed headsets since I bought my first one in the 1990s. Prior to that, I used a passive headset and always found myself tired after only an hour or two of flying. But with a Lightspeed ANR headset, even after eight hours of flying I didn't feel fatigued. Not only do the headsets work well, but they're the most comfortable ones I can find.
The cell phone interface is great. Usually I use it to call FSS while taxiing back with one student to check on the progress of another student on a cross country flight. But once I used it in the air to phone the Palo Alto control tower to let them know that I was inbound with a complete aircraft electrical failure. It was a relief to know as I threaded my way under the Class B airspace that they were expecting me.
Best of all, I love being able to upgrade. I always had two Lightspeed headsets and over the years have used their trade up program to preserve my investment. In the process, I've work my way up from the 15XL, 20XL, 25XL, Thirty 3G and finally to the Zulu headset.
On a recent long trip across the United States, I realized it was time to upgrade again, this time to the Zulu headset. For me, nothing makes a long trip over a remote area more enjoyable than listening to music on XM Radio. What I discovered on that trip was that the music sounded more natural through my client's Zulu headset. So I recently upgraded my older headset to a Zulu.
Just as I try to help my clients reach peak performance in their flying skills, I demand the most from my headset, which is now a Zulu.
Lightspeed headsets have never let me down and I recommend them to all of my clients. And with my new Zulu headset, I'm enjoying those long trips across the U.S. even more!"
Zulu. Change your mind.
